The History of Citrus Hills

The Villages of Citrus Hills are not a 55+ mandated community, but a targeted 55+ retirement community with over 80 percent of residents being over 55.  Sam Tamposi and Gerald Nash started The Villages of Citrus Hills in the earlly 1980's.  They recruited the legendary Boston Redsox left fielder, Ted Williams, to promote Citrus Hills .  The Villages of Citrus Hills is a privately owned master-planned development and is the gem of Florida retirement communities  in Citrus county.  The builder owns the amenities which are free of debt.  Since its inception the developers have invested over $100 million in the amenities and infrastructure of the Villages of Citrus Hills to make it the best retirement community in Central Florida.  They continue to do so and are planning a new pool with bar service and a poolside restaurant.  There are no CDD fees. With over 10,000 homes, the community has grown from having one central amenity to having four resort style amenities with another on the way.  The Tamposi family carries on Sam Tamposi's legacy.
