Citrus Hills Continues to Invest in Its Amenities

One of the things I appreciate most about living in the Villages of Citrus Hills is that our amenities aren't simply built and then forgotten. The community continues to maintain, renovate, and add to the facilities residents use every day.

A recent announcement about the BellaVita pool is a good example.

BellaVita Pool Renovations Underway

Citrus Hills recently announced that the BellaVita indoor pool, hot tub, and pool restrooms will remain temporarily closed while renovations and resurfacing are completed. The new reopening date is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8 at 7 a.m.

I know a temporary closure can be disappointing, particularly for residents who regularly use the pool. But I also think there is another way to look at it.

These are the kinds of improvements that help keep an established community looking and feeling current.

Maintaining Amenities Matters in an Established 55+ Community

When people are shopping for a retirement community, it's easy to be impressed by a beautiful clubhouse, swimming pool, or fitness center.

But I think there is another question that's just as important:

What will those amenities look like 10, 20, or even 30 years from now?

Citrus Hills has been around long enough that many of its facilities aren't brand new. What I find encouraging is the continued investment in maintaining existing amenities while also adding new ones.

The current BellaVita pool project is only one example.

BellaVita is a Citrus Hills Amenity that Has Continued to Evolve

The BellaVita Spa & Fitness Center is one of the signature amenities available to Citrus Hills members. The 50,000+ square-foot facility includes fitness areas, an indoor swimming pool, spa services, and much more.

And BellaVita itself hasn't remained static.

About five years ago, Citrus Hills expanded the facility by adding the beautiful spa building. Now the pool area is receiving additional renovation and resurfacing.

To me, that's important. Maintaining a resort-style amenity requires continued investment after the original construction is finished.

New Recreational Amenities Have Been Added

Citrus Hills has also continued adding recreational opportunities.

The volleyball courts are a relatively recent addition, giving residents another option for outdoor recreation and social activity.

And an even larger project is currently underway.

Pickleball Is Getting a Major Upgrade

Anyone familiar with active-adult communities knows how popular pickleball has become.

Citrus Hills is responding with a significant renovation of the park area that will include new pickleball courts and a pickleball pavilion.

This isn't simply replacing something that was already there. It's an example of the community adapting its amenities to what today's residents want to do.

For someone comparing 55+ communities, I think that's worth paying attention to.

More Than Just Having a Long List of Amenities

Citrus Hills already offers an extensive collection of amenities, including golf, fitness, swimming, tennis, restaurants, entertainment, clubs, activities and outdoor recreation.

But a long amenities list doesn't tell the whole story.

As someone who lives here, I think the willingness to maintain older facilities, renovate them when needed, and continue adding new amenities is every bit as important.

Yes, construction sometimes means putting up with temporary closures and a little inconvenience. I'm sure BellaVita's regular swimmers will be very happy when their pool reopens!

But I'd much rather live in a community that is willing to close a facility temporarily to improve it than one that simply allows its amenities to become dated.

That's one of the things I continue to appreciate about living in Citrus Hills.
